Best Cleaners of Madison Have a Strong Commitment to the Community and the Environment

By S. Mathur

Living up to their name, Best Cleaners have been voted among the top three cleaners in Best of Madison every year since 2006. They have earned their laurels, through hard work and a strong commitment to their customers as well as the environment.

Chad Snell, CEO, explains how this came about: "The story behind Best Cleaners has always been about providing a better quality service. The owners had worked for other cleaners in the area and were dissatisfied with the rush to get clothes out the door rather than get them clean and ready to wear. Our goal is to inspect the clothing at every possible contact point to ensure it's clean, stain free, buttons are intact, and that no minor repairs are needed."

There is no extra charge for like replacing missing buttons and fixing hanging hems or cuffs. Snell says that this allows customers to just put on their clothes and go without worrying about their condition.

"That way when you go to the closet to grab a suit you know the buttons are there, the suit is pressed to perfection and there aren't any cuffs hanging or hems down. When you think about having a big meeting, and you need to look your best, you have plenty of other things on your mind. The last thing you want to worry about is finding a needle and thread to fix a loose hem, or even worse how to cover up a stain on the last shirt in the closet."

The 7-step inspection process ensures that clothes are returned to owners in perfect condition. Different people look over each garment at various times in the cleaning process, checking for stains or other issues when clothes are dropped off and when they are tagged.

The pre-treat inspection sorts fabrics, colors and specialty needs, and pretreats collars, cuffs and stains; and there is a cleaning inspection when items are loaded for cleaning. The pre-press and press inspections check for stubborn stains and any damage during cleaning, as well as any additional treatments needed. The last line of defense is the assembly inspection, when items are sorted back into individual orders.

Best Cleaners' thoroughness has won them a large and loyal customer base through word of mouth. Snell explains that "When we first started we were small potatoes. We had a ton of knowledge but we had no business lined up. We had lots of time to fix hems, broken clasps and the like." They have also become known for cleaning and preparing wedding dresses for the big occasion.

Best Cleaners also support the community by helping athletics and performing arts program for young students. As a family business, with three generations currently involved in the business, they understand the importance of strong family and community ties. Environmental concerns and sustainability are hot button issues for dry cleaning. Best Cleaners use the Green Earth Cleaning process and biodegradable plastic bags to return clean clothes.
