Bonfyre American Grill Sets the Mood in Madison, Wisconsin

Featuring a wood fire grill, exhibition kitchen, and elegant décor, Madison's Bonfyre American Grill seeks to 'ignite' the senses.

General Manager Alfredo Teuschler corrects us when we call his food "upscale." Contemporary American, yes. "What we want for our guests is a place where they can get excellent value in a beautiful environment," says Teuschler. "Our ambience and décor is upscale, but for our menu, you can spend $50 a plate, or you can spend $10. The variety is incomparable and makes our establishment perfect for any occasion."

There is something for everyone on the menu here, and every classic dish has a distinct Bonfyre twist. All of the dressings and sauces are homemade in the Bonfyre kitchen from scratch. "Everything is fresh, never frozen- we don't even have a freezer!" says Teuschler. Seasonal items keep frequent visitors pleasantly surprised. "There is always something new when you visit us," Teuschler promises.

Guest favorites include the BBQ Ribs and Chicken, the Pot Roast with a red wine demi glaze and shiitake mushrooms, and the Seafood Trio - which includes salmon, scallops, and shrimp, served with swiss chard and risotto. The "Woodfyre Specialties" section of the menu contains dishes meant to show off the flavor provided by the wood fire grill.

Teuschler believes that a dining experience involves more than just a meal. "What we love is that our guests can really create their own ambience at Bonfyre," he says. "Our bar is located in the middle of our restaurant and provides a lively buzz perfect for Happy Hour drinks or dinner with friends." The newly-opened Beacon Lounge creates a quieter setting for anything from a romantic dinner to a business meeting. Parties have also been known to retreat to the seasonal patio to dine by the flickering light of a fire pit.

Good food, attentive service, and pleasing aesthetics combine here to mesmerize the Madison faithful. "There is something for everyone," says Teuschler, "which makes Bonfyre Grille one of Madison's favorite restaurants year after year."
