Catered Cocktails Brings Mobile Bartenders And Unique Drinks To Your Event

By S. Mathur

Catered Cocktails is a catering and bartending service, with professional mixologists and wait staff who will travel to weddings, home and office parties, fundraisers and other events. Based in Madison, the service covers all of South Central Wisconsin. There are a number of advantages to having Catered Cocktails for a party or event, over simply providing an open bar for guests to make their own drinks.

First of all, it's a chance to move beyond the familiar cocktails to explore different ingredients and variations on a standard cocktail. Catered Cocktails owner Jennifer Larsen enjoys creating personalized cocktails for events.

"Yes, I have helped clients come up with signature drinks for their wedding or other event," she said. "I'm inspired by drinks I've enjoyed myself, as well as from events I've attended or worked at. There are just so many flavor combinations, just like with food."

Larsen enjoys serving drinks that have flair and an interesting kick.

"My favorite cocktails to make involve unique and unexpected ingredients, like infused herbs or fresh fruit," she said. "I particularly enjoy the contrast of sweet and spicy flavors such as a twist on the traditional margarita, created with jalapenos and tropical fruits like mangos or grapefruit. I like to see the look on a person's face when they taste flavors they've never experienced before and it's satisfying to know we provided that enjoyment."

Another major advantage of choosing Catered Cocktails is that all bartenders are both Serve-Safe certified and licensed in Wisconsin, and the company is insured for liquor liability.

"You are automatically exposed to a certain level of risk as the host or venue owner, which should never be taken lightly," Larsen said. "For that reason, our bartenders are certified and locally licensed. This means we've passed an exam covering alcohol serving laws and responsible beverage service. Our liquor liability policy further protects our clients in the event of an alcohol-related incident."

Larsen created her own company in 2012 after many years of experience in the industry. As a professional mixologist, Larsen works closely with clients in the planning stages of their events and advises them on their beverage menu selection as well as the bar set up. Customer service and satisfied guests are a big part of Larsen's business model. Larsen said she and her team strive to provide a fun yet professional experience for both clients and their guests.

"Another big part of our job is keeping an eye on supply levels during the event," she said. "We replenish ice, cut up garnishes, and alert the host if beverage materials are running low. I also offer the convenience of catering beverage stock on their behalf to save them time and hassle in shopping and transporting themselves."
