Client Needs Helped Build Cloud Nine Day Spa & Salon's Success

Cloud Nine Day Spa & Salon is truly a business built upon the needs of its clients. Twenty years ago it opened solely as a massage spa; today the Sauk City beauty oasis provides head-to-toe services to make anyone look and feel their best. According to owner Luci Breunig, listening to her customers' requests has contributed greatly to the salon's success.

"After a year of inquires from customers if we do hair too, I decided in 2007 to expand and hire a stylist and use the Aveda product line," she said. "Each year we added services like facials, waxing, and nails, plus lash extensions. So the true inspiration was between the needs of the people and hiring great employees."

The salon's services include a multitude of hair design offerings such as cuts, the latest coloring techniques, perms, and damaged hair repair. The staff also performs manicures, pedicures, ear piercing, waxing, and more. Of course the service that launched the business, massage, remains a focal point and includes Swedish, prenatal, hot stone, deep tissue, and other forms of massage therapy delivered by certified massage therapists.

The salon also provides eyelash extensions and makeup applications. Skin care treatments are available that exfoliate dead skin cells and rejuvenate skin with steam, cleansing, massage, and moisturizing. To help with the upkeep of hair and skin health care at home, the salon sells high quality Aveda products.

Besides the range of services available, Breunig is also proud of her educated staff and the positive attitude they project onto the welcoming atmosphere.

"We are all definitely positive people," she said. "We allow no energy vampires or excuses. Responsibility and growth are our main objectives that lead to personal and business happiness. Once you have that balance every guest that walks into our businesses feels it."

Adding to Cloud Nine's success is the continuing education the stylists pursue to stay on top of the latest beauty trends, going beyond the state of Wisconsin's requirements. Unlike other salons where stylists tend to get possessive of clients, Bruenig's staff is quick to recommend a customer to another stylist if they have a special need such as custom coloring or a nail polish treatment.

In meeting its clients' requests, the salon's newest service is its wedding package that includes up-dos, hairstyles and makeup application for brides and their wedding party. Cloud Nine's in-house wedding coordinator helps guide bride-to-bes with testing hair and makeup looks and scheduling sessions for them so there's plenty of time to get ready on their important day.

As beauty needs and trends evolve, it's safe to say that Cloud Nine will stay abreast of its customers' changing needs. The salon is open Monday through Saturday, and on Sundays by appointment only.
