Interiors By B Beautifies and Breathes New Life Into Madison Area Homes

By Pamela Sosnowski

Interior design involves more than just choosing furniture for a room. A good interior designer can help a homeowner make the best use of limited space, prep a home so it looks its best for prospective buyers, and provide insight before a home is even constructed. Brittany Jones, a Madison-based interior designer, understands all of this, which is why she launched her own firm to help homeowners love the space they're living in: Interiors By B.

"Opening up my own residential interior design firm has always been a dream of mine," she said. "A love for the home industry runs in my family and is something I have been part of since I was young. Interior design is a passion of mine and a unique talent that I enjoy sharing with all of my clients to help bring their dreams to reality for their homes."

Interiors By B's services include design consultation, material selection, space planning, and staging for homes for sale. Jones places an emphasis on details and quality of materials when working with clients. She says she lives and designs by the motto "simple is powerful" and likes to get to know a client's preferences and style when creating a space that's unique to them and their needs.

One of Jones' most important services that she performs is home staging. Making a residence look esthetically pleasing typically helps it sell faster and for the owner's asking price. Jones offers two types of staging. The first is the traditional method of providing the homeowner with a list of suggestions on improving the home's interior. The second is an innovative trend in interior design called virtual staging, where furniture is added digitally to a room. According to Jones, this new method is fast, affordable, and extremely versatile.

"Virtual staging is digitally staging a room with online software," she said. "This is a modern and affordable approach to on site staging. Virtual staging can save thousands of dollars and headache's from not having to deal with physically staging the room."

From an early age, Jones loved decorating and knew that she wanted to help other breathe new life into their homes and living spaces. She grew up assisting her mother with painting and other DIY home projects or helping her grandmother choose window treatments. She worked at a local design showplace during high school and college and earned a degree in interior design. She's been an interior designer for nearly a decade, and founded Interiors By B in 2016.

What sets her apart from other designers, she says, is good communication. Every new project begins with a thorough consultation to learn a client's likes, dislikes, and needs.

"Communication is the key ingredient for success while working on any project, and it is something clients have praised me on in the past," she said. "I ask a lot of questions to understand their lifestyle and what they would like to change about their home. The client's style and preferences always comes first in the design process and end result."
