Let Sanctuary Spa Transform You from Head to Toe

By Marina I. Jokic

Steve Jobs once said "the only way to do great work is to love what you do." Erica Smith, owner of Sanctuary Spa in Rockton, Illinois has taken his words to heart over the years, and is one of the lucky few who loves her job. Smith opened her salon in 2013 when she turned 40, and a lifelong dream of hers was realized.

Situated along the Rock River in downtown Rockton, the spa is most purposefully decorated to convey relaxation and serenity. Through its soft colors, plush furniture, and forgiving lighting, the spa begins to work on your mind as soon as you enter.

"We have an amazing vibe in our salon, [and] we like to think of our place as the spa version of cheers?everyone becomes a party of our Sanctuary family," she said.

Smith and her team of seasoned stylists can handle the toughest jobs out there. Whether it's a frantic bride-to-be or a teenager getting ready for her prom, Smith calmly goes about her work and delivers striking results.

In the beauty industry, wedding season dominates the majority of the year?that is, the period between March and November calls for serious stamina.

"During this busy season, we observe the good, the bad, and the ugly of wedding planning," said Smith. "That being said, we certainly believe that we have plenty of insight about what to expect while planning your big day."

Smith jokingly calls herself and her team the 'wedding warriors'. Sanctuary Spa will make sure that you don't have to settle for just any style except your own.

"Just because your cousin Christina has a friend with a barn, that doesn't mean you need to have a barn wedding," Smith said. "You shop around for a venue, dress, cake, and flowers, so be picky about your salon too."

The spa has a team of cutting-edge stylists, who are knowledgeable of the latest trends in the industry and not afraid to exercise their creative muscle. Creativity, trade skills, a personable demeanor, and a good sense of humor are your passport to working at Sanctuary. Smith encourages aspiring stylists to give her a ring, and show her what they are capable of.

Going over the nitty-gritty of their service menu, you will see a wide range of essential and specialty treatments. For example, you have bare bones services like the classic manicure and pedicure, but also custom nail art. There are various men's and women's facials, but also the ear candling, a thermal-auricular therapy whereby one end of a hollow candle is lit while the other end is inserted into the ear canal. You'll find various depilation, makeup, and even massage options and reflexology. In fact, a good massage is a brilliant way to start your spa experience and forget your troubles before your big day.

Sanctuary Spa has transformed even the most tightly wound and haggard brides-to-be into carefree, scintillating goddesses.
