Rustic Charm and Refined Taste Meet at Kilbuck Creek

By Marina I. Jokic

The history of Kilbuck Creek began when owner Chris Ames and her family bought the property years ago. She raised her six children there, so the place holds a special meaning for her. After her kids came of age and moved out of the house, Ames knew that she didn't want to live at the estate by herself but also did not intend to sell it.

Opening an exclusive retreat was a way to keep the beloved property close while sharing it with the public, marketing director Brian Phillips said. Six years later, Kilbuck Creek is booming with business, distinguished by its unique natural retreats, attentive customer service, and pastoral beauty.

All of the staff at Kilbuck Creek were born and raised in the vicinity of Monroe and form a close-knit community. They want to share the natural beauty and serenity of this property with people from all walks of life.

"Creek instantly takes you to a place of beauty, surrounded by nature and wilderness," Phillips said. "It instantly invites you to escape into another world where you can rest, relax, and renew."

The Kilbuck property offers two overnight retreat options which can also be booked for day-long activities: the Kilbuck Lodge with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and four common areas and the Gathering Hall, a newly renovated building with 5,000 square feet of bright, rustic space ideal for large parties, presentations, or dinners. The Lodge's wrap-around deck, covered breezeway, and picnic area as well as outdoor pool and hot tub make for the perfect outdoor experience.

The design and craftsmanship of Kilbuck Creek's rooms reflects the roots and original sensibilities of the architect, while still delivering a refined feel. The sounds of tress rustling in the wind and the effervescence of the creek set against an idyllic backdrop make for the perfect getaway or wedding.

"You can hear yourself think in a new way," Phillips said. "I like the walking trails and the quietness you experience while you are there."

Kilbuck Creek has been especially popular among brides and grooms-to-be, offering indoor and outdoor spaces beautifully suited to a rustic yet glamorous wedding. The main hall can accommodate groups of up to 250 people, and allows you to host a reception and ceremony in one location. The adjacent log home is equipped with all the amenities a bride and groom could possibly need before the ceremony, and Kilbuck Creek staff are there to provide the rest. A professional wedding coordinator can help with the process from start to finish.
