Tasty Treats and Eats Is Finding a Healthy Substitute to Enjoy Life

By Elisha Neubauer

Everyone has their own unique dream in life. For Sandy Theisen, owner of Tasty Treats and Eats in Appleton, Wisconsin, opening the doors to a family-owned and operated bakery was her lifelong dream.

In December of 2014, she made that dream a reality.

Tasty Treats and Eats takes its inspiration from Sandy's daughter, Danielle, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes roughly five years ago. The family found it difficult to find foods that were suitable for Danielle's new dietary restrictions. Quickly realizing there weren't many eateries in the area that catered to such diets, Sandy took it upon herself to rectify the situation. She opened Tasty Treats and Eats with a menu specializing in Vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and regular items both in their food and bakery. Menu options like the pots de crème dessert are low carb, gluten-free, and high in protein, allowing those with limitations to savor desserts in a healthy manner.

"It was designed especially for my daughter," Theisen said. "You would never guess it is a healthy dessert, tastes awesome!"

The café and bakery combo offers a wide range of healthy selections to the Appleton community. Breakfast and lunch dishes include such choices as poached eggs, paninis, and soups, while the bakery and dessert menu includes items like muffins, cookies, turnovers, and cupcakes.

The sky is the limit for those looking to enjoy a healthy, yet tasty meal or treat. The combination of both bakery and café in one location has opened the doors for what Sandy and her staff are able to accomplish on-site. Unique desserts such as homemade lemon curd are constantly hitting the menu.

"We use a low RPM juicing machine and juice the whole lemon, allowing the oils from the zest to be part of the juice makes a great lemon flavor," Theisen said. "We also make our lemonade with lemons freshly juiced here."

For those who are going to be celebrating a special event, Tasty Treats and Eats is the place to go for all of your delectable needs. From holiday parties and birthdays to anniversaries, weddings, and even baptisms, Tasty Treats and Eats has done it all. They understand that these events are special and that it is often the fine details that make or break an event.

"We only book one to two weddings per weekend and focus on the couple's special day by working with them, with budgets, assortments and making their wedding day unique for them," Theisen said.

In addition to their impeccable customer service and attention to detail, many brides opt to book Tasty Treats and Eats for the their wedding cake as they are able to accommodate multiple dietary needs.
