The Combine Provides A Fitness Haven For Amateur And Professional Athletes Alike

By Elisha Neubauer

David Finch wasn't pleased with the fact that high caliber fitness services, the same services offered to professional athletes, wasn't being offered to the general public of Middleton, WI. In 2012, he set out to change that.

With a goal of granting access to the same level of techniques, methods, and training programs to the local residents, Finch launched The Combine, a facility which offered these traits and more at an affordable price. In addition to being a facility for those just merely looking for a full-scale workout, The Combine is capable of elite-level training for athletes regardless of skill or experience. This means both the top-tier athletes as well as those who were just hoping to play a team sport and require improvements are able to train in one convenient location.

"We pride ourselves on providing a customized training program for all of our members, regardless if they are training with us in an individual or group setting," Finch said.

At The Combine, they focus on an upbeat, positive environment, which is simply contagious.

"It has enabled us to quickly establish and maintain a loyal clientele base," Finch said. "Our members are of all ages and abilities with varying backgrounds, and they truly enjoy interacting with and learning from one-another."

With the help of The Combine, the local fitness population has had the ability to train next to professional athletes from both around the country and across the globe. Training alongside such experienced and dedicated professionals encourages the local fitness population, pushing them to new limits as they learn the newest trends, tricks to increase performance, and more.

But, while the facility allows clients to work alongside one another, it focuses on an individuality mindset. Unlike corporate gyms, which force everyone to do a one size fits all daily work out, The Combine focuses on individual experiences. The gym customizes your training experience each day based on your injury history, goals, and fitness level.

"This is so that you continue to progress and achieve fitness gains," Finch said. "We also make every effort to keep your training experience enjoyable and avoid the standard burnout by offering a variety of advanced equipment alternatives and training methods."

In addition to training both amateurs and professionals, The Combine partners with The Herren Project, to help assist people who struggle with addiction. The not for profit organization was founded by Chris Herren, former NBA player, who wanted to educate people on the importance of living a clean, healthy lifestyle.

"Substance abuse is an issue that I take very seriously as it has affected family members and close friends of mine, and it's been very rewarding for me to collaborate with Chris both locally and in other parts of the country as he spreads his message," Finch said.
