Tips for Home Heating and Cooling Emergencies: An Interview with Jill of Dale's Refrigeration and Heating Inc

By Jill DFH

Tell us a little bit about your company and its foundation.

We started our company July 1, 1984 and started with one truck out of our home. We lived off what I made at my job as a customer service manager and kept putting all of our money back into our business, it was rough but soon we grew enough to open our first location two years later. We have moved twice since then and are at our current location with 5 trucks.

What are some potential home heating or cooling emergencies?

Some of the more common problems arise from people not having their systems looked at annually. Many things could be prevented with annual serving of your HVAC system, but that aside many times the furnace is in need of a good cleaning. Cleaning the sensors or a cracked ignitor, also if the customer has oil or LP gas and they have run out of fuel in their tank.

What is the typical process to deal with these events?

We use to keep a guy on call year round but now we just do during the heating seasons, we have a message on our work phone that instructs customers to call our on call technician on our emergency phone. (We do not use an answering service) The technician fields the calls as they come in.

What are few ways homeowners can help prevent these problems?

The best way is by having your HVAC system serviced annually by a factor authorized company. Not only should they help to prevent, you can never completely eliminate, breakdowns but help your furnace to maintain it's efficiency and keep the units factory warranty good. I believe all manufacturers state you must have your system serviced at least once a year.

What's the best way for people to get in contact with you and your company?

The best way would be by phone 715-284-5931 or if you have questions you can email us at dalesref@centurytel.net or submit questions or comments on our web site which is www.dalesref.com or you can find us on FaceBook at www.facebook.com/DalesRefrigerationHeating we would be happy to answer and questions that we can.
